Muskegon Yoga is pleased to have a partnership and benevolent funding from the Johnson Family Cancer Center. The program has been on-going for nearly three years and the results have been nothing less than amazing. Yoga practice has become an integral part of the most advanced cancer treatment centers. Classes are held twice weekly at the Muskegon Yoga Center.
Modern medicine now confirms what ancient wisdom has known for years. The health benefits of yoga are significant. The benefits very evident for cancer patients whether current or past afflicted. Many large cancer hospitals are now providing yoga classes for those undergoing treatment for cancer as well as those who are in remission. Regular yoga practice is documented to have the following impacts; reduce stress, release tension, reduces blood pressure, reduces hypertension, improve appetite, producing an overall calming affect with a sense of well-being and improves sleep. Other benefits have become evident over the two and a half year classes at the Muskegon Yoga Center. These include reduction of medications to include; blood pressure, diabetes medication, and in some cases resulted in the reduction and or elimination of anxiety and sleep medication.
